Minnesfonden skall uppmuntra och stimulera i Markus anda, inom såväl ungdomsidrott som senioridrott (omtänksamhet, målmedvetenhet, uppmuntran, kamratskap, människors lika värde, vilja, engagemang, glädje, optimism). Bidrag från fonden ges för individuella prestationer, laginsatser, tränare/ledare, föräldrainsatser och föreningar. Idrottsföreningar och privatpersoner får lämna förslag på kandidater. Sista datum för ansökan, är den 15 april 2022.
Markus älskade idrott. Från det han var sju år spelade han fotboll, tennis, ishockey och innebandy. När han blev äldre och varje idrott krävde ännu mer satsning valde Markus innebandyn. Han hade börjat spela i Geneta BK, som nådde stora framgångar. Markus ville fortsätta spela och siktade på elitseriespel, Södertälje Rockets var det lag som fick honom att utvecklas som innebandyspelare. Där fann han den kamratskap, som kom att betyda så mycket för honom, både på och utanför innebandyarenan. Markus spelade fotboll från att han var 7år till 18år. Han representerade då Västertälje, Lina, Pershagen, Östertälje, Brunnsäng och Enhörna. Markus spelade ishockey i SSK från 8år tills han var 13år. Han spelade även tennis i STK. Markus representerade även Södermanlands distriktslag och Sveriges juniorlandslag hösten -99. Meriter: silver i USM/JSM 1996, silver i Svenska cupen 1999.
Markus gravplats finns på Södertälje’s skogskyrkogård vid Ljusets och Löftets kapell, kvarter 74 plats 110.
